Shoutdown vs. Ringdown

Two of Cloud9's supported call types are Shoutdowns and Ringdowns. These connections can be made internally between groups or externally to counterparties. They can be shared among several users within each group for coverage and allow for teams to people  or individuals to communicate back and forth.

Shoutdown:
A shoutdown is an open line that is always active while there are 2+ users subscribed and online. These lines are comparable to an MRD line or Hoot on a legacy turret system. When the user engages on a shoutdown, all users who are connected will hear their voice coming through their speakers. Traditionally, these calls are made using a goose neck microphone and speaker device.

This connection type is identified by a
 speaker icon on the button within the user layout.

Ringdown:
A ringdown is a line that acts more like a traditional phone call. These lines compare to an ARD line on a legacy turret system. When the user engages on a ringdown, it will ring the counterparty who will have to first pickup the call before the two users can communicate. Traditionally, these calls are made using a handset or headset device.

This connection type is identified by a bell icon on the button within the user layout.
